priceless historical information
such as
the Indian MOTOCYCLE. (Note the spelling they use of MOTOCYCLE instead of Moto

cycle.)
The Surplus N Salvage watermarks displayed on these images will NOT appear in the copy that you receive, however the back cover of these brochures do contain a notice stating they are professional "reproductions" made by American Legacies Org.

Be sure to view the photo/sketch of the 1904 Indian displaying a fuel tank mounted on the REAR fender instead of in front of the driver.
Also, check out the description stating this brochure is the "THIRD introductory greeting."
Features in 1904:
"MOTOR--Hedstrom 1 3/4 horse power."
"GASOLENE CAPACITY--
The regular tank holds a shade less than one gallon, and under ordinary conditions will drive the machine from 75 to 85 miles.."
"BATTERIES--
The battery is the best brains can produce. It is of the dry three-cell pattern, and will drive machine from 800 to 2500 miles, according to the care it receives.. "
BATTERY IGNITION--
"An option for 1908 will consist of a new type of battery case, which will hold three ordinary No. 6 cells. These cells can be readily connected to, but cannot be sealed as in the case of the regular Indian battery. Fair results will be obtained by the use of these cells, but the Indian type is recommended.?
FINISH--Royal blue enamel is our regular finish. Will furnish, however, on order bright vermillion or black. All bright parts handsomely nickeled.
If you enjoy historical information about the early days of motorcycles, this brochure will be an extremely valuable asset.
It has one page dedicated to Oscar Hedstrom, stating he "was born in Smoland, Sweden, March 12, 1871, and came to this country when nine years of age. He soon began upon the career which eventually brought him before the public as a gasolene engine expert."
There are also pages dedicated to the Hedstrom Motor, Hedstrom Carburetor, Grip Control, Chains, Oiling and Lubrication, Power and Speed, Special Construction of Frame and Fork, Scalps of the Trail, Scalps of the Warpath, Saddles, Indian Tandem Attachment (such as the Veeder Cyclometer, Ammeter, and Gasolene Tester that is used to "test" the "grade" of gasolene to avoid using inferior gasolene.
