Old Songye DRC Fetish

Description

For collecting is this unusual Songye fetish from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. this is a superb mixed media piece which is composed of wood containing an upside down horn inserted into the top of the head, raffia, straw, animal hair, cowrie shells, cloth, thin metal sheets, and rusty metal tacks. The statue is 26 inches in height with a 12 inch in circumference base.  Songye fetishes are rare to find in original form and this fetish is no different.  Although it has been placed outside in the elements, it may have been made for the tourist market.  Regardless, this fetish does not follow the predictable lines of Songye fetishes' leading one to believe their is a new craftsman in the making.
This is a true African collectable and will enhance any collection.
