    Description

This is a extremely rare and large antique, hand carved, wooden, African bench like
bed which was tribally made from a single trunk of native hardwood by the Senufo tribe from the Ivory Coast of Africa. The Senufo people of the Kufulo region refer to these beds as Kpaala and they are used for ceremonial reasons and also to rest and lounge on during the day. For a tribal person to own a large piece of furniture like this was seen as a very high status symbol. This rare African Senufo tribally made and used wooden bed measures 84 1/2 inches long by 17 inches wide and is 14 inches high. Great antique rustic condition with wear from tribal use and does have some cracks in the wood. One large crack from one of the heads neck down onto the base of the bed. This Senufo antique tribal bed has been in my personal collection for ten years and is very rare and would make a fine addition to any African art collection and would be a wonderful piece for interior design and could be used as a bench, coffee table or day bed.
Please note that this bed is not only large but is very heavy and would need to be crated professionally therefore it would be very expensive to ship. Seriously interested collectors may contact me through ebay message system for a shipping quote. I also offer professional in person delivery to some locations and cost would depend on distance. I am also open to local pick up if a collector would want to arrange with me to pick up this antique bed themselves.
