    Antique African Benin Bronze Head Fragment - Old UK Collection
    Antique and beautifully cast with nice, dark patina of age,
    dating from at least the 19th Century,
    possibly much
    older.
    Head broken off a large figure of a Royal Personnage.  Eyebrows are a zoomorphic lizard figure. Head topped with two birds.  Finely detailed with a nice dark green, almost black, patina. Traces of red, sacrificial kaolin still present.
    Please examine photos carefully for condition.
    Purchased years ago at auction in a group of genuine ancient Etruscan antiquities, this is part of my personal collection that I am selling to downsize.  Pre-20th Century African artifacts are rare!
