    Description

    A tall elongated carved wooden effigy of a Hanged Man, accented with kaolin clay pigments. Figures carved in this manner represent individuals who were hanged for violating the public order and transgressing the laws of a powerful association among the Mbole, known as Lilwa.
    The figure measures 23.25 inches tall ( 25.25 on wooden base) Mbole peoples, DRC/ Congo, central Africa.
