    AS YOU CAN SEE THE TABBING WIRE DOES HAVE A SOLDER COATING ALREADY ON IT.  I CAN TELL YOU FROM EXPERIENCE YOU STILL SHOULD HAVE SOLDER ON HAND AND BY JUST PUTTING A LITTLE ON THE TIP OF YOUR IRON BEFORE YOU START TABBING EACH CELL  IT WILL HELP THE MELTING AND FLOW OF THE WHOLE JOB. ANYBODY THAT SELLS TABBING WIRE THAT TELLS YOU YOU DO NOT NEED SOLDER HAS NEVER BUILT A PANEL IN MY OPINION.

    A blocking diode is a semiconductor device used to stop the flow of current from one direction, but allow it in the opposite direction. In lay mans terms it is a one way street for electricity, You attach the diode to the (+) lead and when the panel is making electricity it will flow into your battery for example but when the sun went down or behind  a cloud the battery would try to flow backwards into the panel, this could cause two things to happen the battery you just charged would discharge or the electricity from the battery could damage the cells, the diode will not let the electricity flow backwards.
