Up for auction is a rare antique from circa 1800's Africa bronze tribal
vessel footed jar
. African Akan Ashanti Tribes. Solid cast bronze, lost wax technic jar with lid
. In my opinion and researches was used for medicine substances. The jar featuring hinged lid with bird handle and on sides ornate with reptiles motifs, snakes and crocodiles. It is featuring allover mellow brown patina on bronze. Iron pin on lid hinge also with amazing patina due to age. Excellent preserved without damages. Truth Museum piece in original condition.
Found at an estate sale in Valletta Malta, not sure for its age or history other than it came from an estate of a world traveler and antiques collector.
Measures: 8.5'' h x about 5.5'' dimeter in the middle.

The Ashanti are known for their skilled & imaginative metalwork,  are prolific in their production of objects known as "gold weights" & various metal boxes, including avariety of lidded containers known as a kuduo.Ashanti gold weights are also named Mbramoo
